According to the Children’s Agenda, only 22 percent of local families that need subsidies are being served. As a result, thousands of parents are unable to afford safe, nurturing childcare.
We need creative solutions to add subsidies. Local leaders should work with companies and economic development agencies on childcare solutions. The City of Rochester should contribute some funding to ease this crisis. The county and state should prioritize resources for childcare.
